Many times in business, it can feel and be very lonely.
It is easy to feel that you are on your own island. No one understands the ups and downs, the challenges, the upsets and the misfortunes that can happen.
The day in and day out of the hustle that at times can be overwhelming.
We are inundated with messages and titles such as, “Become a self made millionaire!” and “Do it yourself!” There is a perception that a success is only won on your own , and if you do accomplish something on your own, then that success is in some way better because they didn’t have any help.
My thoughts on that are…Give me a break!
I don’t know about you, but I need help! I don’t want to be on my own island, I don’t want the sole motivation of my life to be me. Any successes that I’ve experienced, have had a far more reward, when they’ve been done with comrades. It’s what makes the journey that much sweeter.
Personally, I don’t really care how you did something all on your lonesome, especially if you chose to make it that way.
Yes, there are circumstances where a vision was not shared amongst others, and therefore that person had to take the road less traveled, by themselves. I want to hear how you helped others, and how others helped you. I want to hear about the times you fell short, and your comrades picked you up.
I want to hear how the efforts of a group, blessed the groups of many. I suppose at the end of it all, a success is still a success. However, I don’t need the only bragging rights. If they took a picture of your success, the best pictures are not the ones with a single person holding a trophy. No, the best and most memorable pictures of success is people hugging and holding up each other. Celebrating as friends and comrades. Rejoicing in the victory that collectively they earned and strived for. No ones cares about the shiny trophy. People care about the people who came through with you to that success.
So get off your island. Seek help and lots of it. Embrace council and ideas. Give others the chance to share success with you.
